No. We recommend avoiding putting heavy objects or undue stress onto your benchtops. The integrity of the installation depends on the supports under the stone, and too much additional weight can lead to damaging these supports.
Even though our stone benchtops are incredibly heat resistant, we recommend not placing hot objects directly onto them. Use a corkboard, cutting board or something similar instead to prevent any damage being done to your benchtop.
While stone benchtops are scratch resistant, we do not recommend using them for direct cutting due to damage that can be done to your knives and the benchtop over time. It is also unsanitary. We recommend using a cutting board or something similar for food preparation.
That depends on your tastes. Natural stone is available in a wide range of unique and individual colours, while engineered stone is created to have a consistent pattern/colour between the different ranges. For instance if you like a certain colour in a natural stone there may be so many variances between each slab even though they are the same coloured stone where as if there is a certain colour in an engineered stone that catches your eye every slab made in that colour is going to look almost identical other than the slight shade differences in batches. However, they both have their own individual advantages. Contact our Thornton office to find out more.
Our engineered stone products are already extremely non-porous and do not require sealing. However if you have purchased any natural stone through us like a granite/marble it will require sealing every 6-12 months to keep it in the best condition. Contact the Vivid Stoneworks office and speak to our friendly team for clarification on whether you need to perform sealing on your new stone.
